Do you find yourself struggling to sleep? Racing thoughts won’t allow you to have a peaceful moment? Anxiety is something many individuals struggle with. How do we cope with it? In this blog, we will cover a variety of ways to cope with anxiety.

Triggers… What sets you off?

Certain sounds, movies, memories, places, things, and scents may set you off. Just to name a few.  Replace that negative reaction with breathing. Deep breaths in and out while focusing on a positive thought works wonders!

Racing Thoughts…

My mind is racing and I am unable to slow it down so I can sort out and make sense of any of it. Endless daydreams and tears are flowing from past memories. How can I make it stop? Have you ever questioned your thought pattern? Replace the negative with a positive. As soon as those thoughts start, you focus on the positive! You are alive, your children are healthy, you are passing all of your classes, or you are advancing in your career. Give this a try and take control over your mental well-being.

Uneasy Feeling…

There is something wrong but I can not put my finger on it! Did I do something wrong, is he/she upset with me? Why am I feeling like this? A few ways to cope with this are to exercise, write in your journal, or call a friend. Sitting in that moment will bury you further into depression. You must be proactive and work hard to remove yourself from those dark thoughts. A busy mind has no time to sink into that dark space.

Isolation…

As much as I’d love to surround myself with family and friends… I just can’t! Am I loved? Do they just tolerate me? Why do I feel like the black sheep? The best way to deal with these thoughts is to approach them head-on. Let your friends and family know how you are feeling. Put one foot in front of the other and go! Attend the bbq, party, reunion… Smile and allow others to love on you. Yes! It’s easier said than done, but if you truly want to change, please put forth the effort.

Aromatherapy is also a way to help put your mind at ease. Whatever your favorite scent is, burn it. Light that candle or turn on your oil diffuser. (in a safe space) Inhale and Exhale while focusing on positive thoughts and memories. In with the good, out with the bad.

For those of you who feel like nothing good ever happens to them, I live by this… “Every day that God wakes you up, is a day you can change” You must take control and pull yourself together. Excellent writing! So many individuals suffer from anxiety and don’t know how to manage it. Sad part of all this is there are so many programs out here to help, they aren’t advertised too much. Do your research, help is available. God bless

Knowing what your triggers are helps a lot! You know what to stay away from and avoid. It can be the simplest act or motion that can set someone off. Isolation is never a good idea. When you are alone especially with nothing to do to keep your mind busy will drive you crazy. It’s good to find at least one person you can have in your corner and find some hobbies. Keep your mind busy so it will not wonder about the what ifs and things that happened to you in the past. Great post!
