Candle Burning & Exercise

Exercising has been a long, difficult journey for me. I started out walking on a treadmill, which lasted 2 weeks! My attention span isn’t what it used to be! I get bored fast & my mind starts racing, but health is very important to me! I also know that eating healthy alone isn’t enough!

I’ve been trying out different methods & let me say this before continuing with this blog, “what works for me may not work for you.” Hopefully, by you reading this, you can find other alternatives to help motivate you with weight loss & mental peace of mind.

As a candle maker, it’s my job to know not only my products, but how my customers can benefit from them as well. I have been using this method for a few years now & it helps. While walking on my treadmill I will burn a candle & play music. Most individuals will walk/run at a fast & steady pace. Not Me! I will walk to Jill Scott… Anthony Hamilton… Gospel… Whichever selection you prefer, that’s what you go for.

Please keep in mind…

  • You will not lose this weight overnight!
  • What works for others may not work for you.
  • This journey takes time!
  • You are NOT alone!

Losing weight is a process & cannot be accomplished overnight! (read that again) Break that habit of working out for a few weeks, then stopping. Eating healthy for a week or two, then you call it quits. Weighing ourselves expecting to see a quick change, then throwing in the towel. Living a healthy lifestyle takes time. Months… For some… Years! Create a plan, put it into action & keep it going.

You are on your own time. Racing your OWN race. Start small, here are a few exercise positions that may help you along the way.

  • Stretches – Stretching improves flexibility & prevents muscle tightness which prevents you from being able to move comfortably.
  • Squats – Squats tighten up & tone the muscles while also burning calories.
  • Walking – Walking lowers blood pressure, boosts your mood & also helps ease joint pain.
  • Jogging – Strengthens your cardiovascular system & enhances your lung capacity.
  • Sit-ups – Eliminates back pain, improves flexibility, can help rid belly fat.

A few of the candle scents I use are listed below. I chose these scents due to the effect they will have on both your mind & body. Lavender is my all-time favorite. I speak of Lavender Candles quite often. Reason being… It has a Soothing & Calming effect! It’s been scientifically proven that your sense of smell has a major impact on your life, both physically & emotionally.

Here are a few scents you may want to burn in your home, office, or gym (if allowed) during your workout regimen.

  • Lavender – We carry stress around on a daily basis. This scent & oil relieves stress & tension. It also soothes out headaches.
  • Ginger – Acts as a mild stimulant, making it a great energizer.
  • Cinnamon – Stimulates & increases alertness, calls for better visual focus, & has a smell that can help alleviate nausea & exhaustion.
  • Peppermint – Known for increasing energy & concentration levels.
  • Lemon – This scent carries a variety of benefits. It will give your environment a refreshing scent while clearing your mind & decreasing anxiety.
  • Vanilla – Its strong sweet scent relaxes your mind. Allowing you to enjoy your workout without carrying that extra tension.

Many people aren’t convinced about the benefits of candle burning. I’m here to tell you, don’t knock it, until you try it. I’ve done & still do this a few times a week. It’s a slow process but well worth it. Once you begin & fall into a consistent regimen, you won’t even have to push yourself to go to the gym, or walk, or worry about eating healthy. It will occur naturally.

Let us know in the comment section how your weight loss/peace of mind journey has been going for you & feel free to leave us a few tips. We are in this together. Take Care

Just take it one day at a time. Remember not even God created the world in a day. Move to the beat of your own drum. Stay blessed and stay strong. Whatever you put your mind to you can do, it’s all mental.

“What works for me may not work for you” a very true statement indeed. It’s also lovely implementing exercise with candle burning. I’m very sure I will be incorporating this when I start yoga

This is a really cool concept, my biggest thing is the eating. But I think that’s adding this element of aroma therapy in the mix would be healthy

This was very informative and true. Burning candles while taking a bath can bring so much calmness and peace into your life. I am definitely going to try doing this with my morning workouts.

My husband and I have to try this. I do burn candles, I just have not done it while working out. Seems like it would be sort of relaxing though. Make your workouts seem less intense.
